BLACKDEN We have had a busy summer. A group of us visited the Medicine House at Blackden. Home of Alan and Griselda Garner. We had a brilliant time and were very welcomed. An informative and fun tour , with a few juicy tales, and always a new story to tell, The volunteers are a super team, and the tea and cake at the end very welcome. INVISIBLE WORLDS the app project with Birmingham University is on going. Prof Vicky Flood is working with us to add stories and personal accounts of life on the Edge. We will keep you updated on our progress. In the meantime, if you up on the Edge for a walk download the app, Invisible Worlds, (a pink wizard face) and enjoy the pictures music and stories already there.

Monday 25th September. we welcome back Vince (a member of our group) to talk about the 2nd passion of his life- aviation. You will remember Vince talked to us last year about the railways, and he is also the miller at the Nether Alderley water mill. We look forward to hearing about the history of aviation which will include The early beginnings of aviation in the North West, Formby Point and Blackpool Early Manchester Airfields; Trafford Park, Alexandra Park, Wythenshawe. Hot off the press so to speaker. We have on permanent loan from Graham Diliway, 2 beautiful 1st editions of EAST CHESHIRE PAST AND PRESENT by J.P EARWAKER vol1&2. Mr Earwaker who wrote these books in late 1877.He lived in BROCKLANDS Alderley Edge. We thank Graham very much, the books will be useful for local research, as they cover from Alderley to Stockport. If you wish to use the books for research , come down on Wednesday s 2.30 till 4.30pm when some of the members are cataloguing the archives, in St Philip & St James Church Alderley Edge SK9 7UZ.
